Electrification

Electrical Upgrades and SPAN Smart Panels

Electrical work across South & West Santa Clara County is not one-size-fits-all. Ranch homes, custom estates, and suburban lots each bring different panel sizes, detached loads, and upgrade paths — especially when EV charging, solar, or a remodel lands on the same timeline.

In Morgan Hill and Gilroy, we often upgrade panels for EV charging, kitchen and bath remodels, heat pumps, induction ranges, and solar interconnection — loads a 100A or 125A service was never meant to carry alone.

In San Martin and Coyote, scale is the story: gates, wells, shops, barns, guest units, and long conduit runs where “just add a circuit” can mean trenching, subpanels, and voltage-drop calculations best sorted before concrete goes in.

In Los Gatos, Saratoga, Campbell, Cupertino, and San Jose, tighter properties and city plan check mean load calculations, SPAN panels, and dedicated circuits need to be documented clearly — particularly when batteries and Level-2 EV charging are part of the scope.

  • Panel upgrades & long-term load planning
  • EV charging, solar & battery coordination
  • SPAN smart panels & energy management
  • Dedicated circuits, subpanels & LED lighting
  • Rural runs, shops, barns & detached loads
  • Permits, inspections & C-10 licensed work

Load Planning

Electrical Efficiency and Load Planning

Electrical efficiency is not only about using less power. It is about using power intelligently — LED lighting, dedicated circuits, load management, SPAN smart panels, EV charging strategy, and solar-battery coordination working as one plan.

A panel upgrade, subpanel, or smart panel install is not just about adding capacity. It is about preparing the home for how it will actually be used over the next 10 to 20 years, with permits pulled through the correct jurisdiction every time.

Smart Panels

SPAN Smart Panels and Energy Management

Smarter energy control starts at the panel.

As homes become more electric, traditional panels can become limiting. SPAN smart panels give homeowners better visibility into how power is being used — especially when solar, batteries, and EV chargers share the same service.

JGR installs and plans SPAN systems across our service area — from Morgan Hill and Gilroy through San Jose, Los Gatos, Campbell, and Cupertino. They help prioritize critical loads, manage battery backup, and monitor circuit-level consumption.

Smart panels are especially useful when a home is being prepared for solar, batteries, EV charging, heat pumps, or a major remodel. In simple terms, they help your home make smarter energy decisions — which is helpful, because the average electrical panel has not been known for its personality.

Jorge from JGR Construction has been an outstanding resource throughout my commercial solar project. He is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to work with, and he consistently brought clarity and confidence to the process. Most importantly, he was able to execute and deliver, which made a big difference on a project of this scale. I highly recommend Jorge and JGR Construction to anyone looking for a dependable and capable team. Services Repairs & maintenance, Concrete Construction, Service not listed

I recently hired Jorge and the team at JGR Construction for a 10 kW solar installation on my rental property, and they are easily the best contractors I've worked with. In my professional life, I audit contractors for large-scale projects, so I know exactly how to distinguish high-quality service from poor workmanship. JGR is exceptional. Technical Excellence & Superior Value: Jorge personally explained complex technical issues within the solar industry, which allowed me to make much better decisions regarding panel placement. They didn't just meet the spec; they exceeded it, doubling up on securing the rails with extra stainless steel screws and clamps. They also replaced my outdated service panel with a new solar-ready model and even handled a side project—installing a drop-down attic ladder—at a price that was significantly lower than other quotes I received. Performance & ROI: This 10 kW system produced more power than the home used even during the winter months. As we head into summer, I'll be generating credits, ensuring a very fast ROI. Meeting the 2025 Deadline: I had a strict deadline to complete this by year-end 2025 for tax purposes. JGR worked overtime to ensure the installation was finished and PTO was secured with PG&E before December 31st. Full-Service Professionalism: From managing city permits and code enforcement to the final Enphase app setup, they handled every detail. The crew was exceptionally cordial and respectful of my tenants. From a professional auditor's perspective, JGR Construction delivers 100% on quality and value.

Toward the end of last year, I started noticing that my true-up bill was higher than it had been in previous years, so I began looking into why. That is when I realized that even though I was under a NEM 2.0 arrangement, PG&E had changed some of its time-of-use rules. When I called Jorge, since he really understands this industry, he explained exactly what had happened. Last year, I decided to follow his advice and install 27 kW of Tesla battery storage for two reasons. First, to eliminate my PG&E true-up bill, and more importantly, because I now have an electric vehicle. With gas prices the way they are, I am very glad I followed Jorge's recommendation. Since installing the batteries, my monthly true-up statements have actually started showing credits. I believe that anyone who hires JGR Construction is not just getting a system. They are also getting a forward-looking vision. The energy landscape is going to keep changing, and JGR Construction stays well informed and ahead of it. Services Service not listed
